Neanderthal man
by scary21 inmy ex husband and father of my daughter was never baptized but is still a believer in the wt.. a couple years ago we were talking about evolution ( which he does not believe in ) i brought up the subject of the neanderthals and how we all have their dna except africans ( the ones that never left africa ).
he said neanderthals are apes and not humans and jw's do not teach that they are humans.
i said i believe they do.. in the life- how did it get here book, under the sub heading " the human family "is says " neanderthal man....... was undoubtedly human.. his response was " they are just talking about what other people believe " ahhhhh .

It should be noted that there are 'apes' like Australopithecine that walk upright like the Hominids that are descended from them.
As far as humans being apes there has to be a line of separation drawn between the two like the line that distinguishes apes from monkeys. The cumulative differences between us and our ancestors from apes is too great to share a common term.

Although Neandertals had a larger cranium than Homo Sapiens that is not a sign of superior or even equal intelligence.
They actually had less of the frontal areas (where their skull slopes backwards) of the brain where fore planning originates. Also they had less cerebral cortex where general intelligence is to be found. Where they had more brain was to the rear of the skull in the occipital regions where vision is centered. Apparently he had more visual 'intelligence' than us.
That they were not as intelligent as us is shown by their tool making abilities and limitations. Their tools were more advanced than any other previous species but ours. We not only had a better tool kit, we had a tool kit that was improved throughout the duration of our species.
Neandertal on the other hand had a tool kit that stayed the same for 250,000 years without any advances throughout that time period. They also never made tools out of bone like Homo Sapiens did.
Another feature of Neandertals that would limit their knowledge was the fact that they seemed to have lived in groups of less than 25 members and were restricted to limited territories. Homo Sapiens traveled throughout larger territories in numbers approaching 100. The less people there are the less 'wisdom' there is to be passed down throughout the generations.

As a person who is fascinated by Paleoanthropology and vaguely remembers JW creationism I seem to recall, don't remember where, the Watchtower saying that Homo Erectus was the drawing line between humans and 'apes'.
If that is so then it should be said that Homo Erectus was more primitive than Neandertal with a brain capacity 30% less than ours.

by Tempest in a Teacup in...that only people from those countries can lead 'his organization'.. a few years ago, one conversation stopper people would often bring up to jws in my country is: 'you guys are an american religion'.
the standard answer we were formatted to give to shoot that down was that "god does not favor any nationality over others.
however some countries do possess some advantages needed for the advancement of the divine work.

by CharlieSmith1975 inthe tricky thing about a mass mailing to all the kingdom halls is that mail is often not delivered to the kingdom hall but to a po box.
it is super easy to get all the addresses to hundreds of kingdom halls across the country and even have those addresses printed out for you as labels!
but when i did that before i got about a third of them back.

Charlie, your whole flier is a bit cumbersome to read but I'm basing what I said on the last paragraph:

First you're predicting a date for the end; second you're elevating the Watchtower to a position where they are an actual fulfillment of certain scriptures.
Why not throw in the Mormons and the Apostolic Reformation? There are other religions that are authoritarian and absurd so why should God focus on just the Witnesses?
